Do you suffer from Mondayitis Syndrome?

It is so hard to start the week on Monday after a so-called relaxed weekend. I just said so-called because not only does it usually go by fast ( the Spring forward time change this weekend did not help a bit), but I am also so busy getting stuff ready for the week for my little family. Oh boy, don’t let me start with this.
I do not know about you but my struggle on Monday always starts around 3–4 AM after getting up for my bathroom trip; yep not getting younger either, the struggle is real. Every Monday morning, even the thought of getting up makes me hug my pillow tighter. My husband refers to it as Mondayitis Syndrome which is the all-of-the-sudden-not-feeling-well, want-to-call-out-sick/ discomforts that only strike on Sunday night because of work on Mondays and fade away after lunchtime. I think it is one of those grown-up diseases…

Good for you if you have not yet experienced it or better, never had this. Well for us on the other side, we get to have these discomforts every week. They usually start around 9 PM on Sundays when you realize that the weekend is, indeed, over and that it is almost time to get back to reality.

In our house, after Sunday dinner, which is usually around 5–6 PM, everyone gets to escape in their rooms either to take an hour nap or just to relax. My husband and I like watching good programs on TV if we are not knocked out and asleep. Around 7 PM, when the kids start getting out of their caverns, we get reminded that we cannot spend our life hiding or in bed LOL. We have to act like grown-ups again and start getting ready for the week. Usually, the ritual goes between checking backpacks for school work/folders for the little ones or checking emails for any updates from work or something that we might have missed out on Friday. Well, that is also when the first symptoms of Mondayitis will kick in. You start feeling tired even though you just rested for a couple of hours. I mean for me, just the thought of knowing that Monday is coming will shake the joy out of me, kind of leaving me a little depressed. Yes, I know it’s that serious.

Maybe winning a million bucks lottery ticket might help but I doubt it. And let me be very clear here, I AM NOT LAZY. I get to have different roles that I assume in my wonder woman character. I am a wife, mother of 5 ( 2 teenagers, 3 young ones almost triplets), and I have full-time work where I am managing 15 great individuals. This wonder woman here is also getting herself together to start a business. Did I also mention that I get to encourage other ladies in my church? So, yes, I am a very busy lady and the weight of responsibilities makes me realize that the time off that I get on the weekend is somehow not enough. Am I complaining? Oh no…

On my typical day, my 1st alarm goes off at 6:55 AM and the next one is around 7 AM. I am not sure how that 5-minute gap helps me but I will tell you these five minutes are like water in the desert. They are very precious to me.
Because school is still on, I wake up to help the kids get ready for school and see them out to their bus stop. After dropping them off, I usually walk around the neighborhood for 20–30 minutes. This is so helpful for my overall health. This will be a talk for another time if you are interested, of course. Once back, I fix myself a cup of hot tea or coffee and heads up to the office/bedroom since my husband and I work from home. Then we get to start the day with meetings back to back. My wish is to start my day by getting myself back to pace for a good week at work. But I wish, I wish … and it is not up to me.

Is it too much to ask for a no-Monday-early-morning-meeting day? I mean would it not be nice to just get back on track on Monday without being yelled at and get to have meetings on Tuesdays. Most of these meetings could just be emails anyways!! Do not get me started with these LOL oh my…
I mean this is just my opinion and since I am still working for someone else I will abide by their rules. But I will definitely think about this when my business will be up and running one day. Hum… one day!

The good thing, though, is that I only have the symptoms from Sunday night till Monday around noon. I am like a Zombie for the first part of the day on Monday and after that, I am a very sweet lady to be around. And since I know that I do suffer from this, I avoid scheduling a lot of meetings in the morning and if I do, they are very short ones. So, enough of me talking about this Mondayitis, and I hope to share something about me, my family soon.
